Security campaign | SDF storms river crossing in eastern Deir Ezzor, confiscating equipment and arresting smuggler

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that SDF has stormed a river crossing in Huwaija in al-Busayrah in east Deir Ezzor countryside, confiscating several ferries and rafts and arresting an official responsible for the crossing.

On September 29, SOHR activists reported that the SDF Commandos Forces raided the river crossing in Zagheer Jazeera town in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor and confiscated over 200 barrels of diesel that were ready to be smuggled to regime-held areas on the opposite bank of Euphrates river.

According to SOHR sources, the smugglers had transported diesel barrels, on September 28, to a small island in Euphrates River in preparation to smuggle them to areas under the control of the Syrian regime on the opposite bank of river, before the security forces stormed the crossing and transported the diesel barrels back to SDF-held areas.

On September 20, SOHR activists reported that six Hummer armored vehicles accompanied with large military forces of SDF and the public security troops headed towards smuggling areas near the banks of Euphrates River in Abu Hammam town eastern of Deir Ezzor, while the military forces deployed in the area, amid reports about deployment of anti-smuggling campaigns in the town.
