Renewed shelling | Turkish artillery fire destroys civilians’ houses and targets worship houses in Assyrian villages in al-Hasakah countryside

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that Turkish forces renewed ground shelling this evening, targeting civilians’ houses in Tel Tamr countryside in al-Hasakah province. The shelling was concentrated on the Assyrian villages of Tel Keifjy, Tel Shinan and Tel Joma’a, which caused destruction of several houses and damage to civilians’ properties. The Turkish shelling also hit churches, mosques and graveyards in these villages.

 

This development coincided with the ongoing Turkish military escalation in north-east Syria region.

 

On October 10, SOHR activists reported in the early hours of Saturday exchange of fire by rocket and artillery attacks between the SDF from one side and the Turkish forces and its proxies on the other at the frontlines of al-Derdarah, Tal Shinan, Tal Goma’a and Tal Keigay that are all stationed in Tal Tamr neighborhood in north countryside of al-Hasakah province. However, no casualties were reported.

 

While on October 9, SOHR activists reported violent shelling by Turkish forces, this evening, on Tel Tamr countryside in northern al-Hasakah, which destroyed more than three civilians’ houses in al-Derdara, Tel Jema’a and Hamra.

 

SOHR activists also reported that the Turkish forces launched several shells on the Assyrian village of Tel Shinan in Tel Tamr countryside in al-Hasakah province.
