Security vacuum | Young man found dead in western Daraa, while the former head of commercial chamber survives assassination attempt

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that a civilian was injured today, after he was shot by unknown gunmen in Tariq al-Sadd neighborhood in Daraa city.

It is worth noting that the wounded man was the former head of the commercial chamber and a member of the Reform Commission.

On the other hand, residents found a dead young man near al-Shamry  area on the road between al-Muzayrib and Masakin Jilen towns in the western Daraa countryside. According to SOHR sources, the young man was from Saisoun village in al-Shajara district in al-Yarmouk basin in western of Daraa, and he was kidnapped near Sahm al-Golan dam three days ago, while he was in a car with another person.

These developments came after the new reconciliation deals had been struck and individual weapons had been confiscated in most of Daraa province.

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,198 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs.
