Over poor medical services, spread of waste and rotten bodies in Euphrates River | Leishmania invades al-Baghouz, latest ISIS stronghold before collapse

Deir Ezzor province: Since the SDF and the International Coalition have controlled al-Baghouz town, the latest ISIS stronghold before its fake collapse in the far east of Deir Ezzor at the Iraqi-Syrian borders, several diseases in the region, most prominent of which is Leishmania, a skin disease, which is also known as Aleppo peels .

The disease has started spreading obviously in the recent time due to the poor medical services that are provided for the population and spread of the waste as well as turning Euphrates River to swamp after it was full of rotten bodies that were not buried in safe way under the house that were completely destroyed in military operations and the spread of rodents especially rates, mice and sand mosquito.

The aforementioned reasons were causes of spreading the diseases in al-Baghouz and the surrounding areas. According to medical sources in the region, after ending ISIS in March, 2019, and the return of the population to al-Baghouz in August, 2019, number of the victims of Leishmania reached 6,000 , 600 of them were cured. However, the disease is still spreading among the people due to the poor services provided for the hospitals in al-Baghouz and rise of the medicine that is valued at 7,000 TL in the pharmacies.

On Oct. 10, since the population returned back to al-Baghouz town, the last stronghold of ISIS, in August 2019, after the group unreal fall, the region had been suffering the spread of the war ordnance, bombs, IED, rockets and unexplained devices that killed, amputated and wounded dozens in lines of civilians.

The war ordnance spread among the civilians inhabited houses and the destroyed ones, the agricultural lands and underground as very few numbers has been destroyed by the International Coalition and the SDF.
Such war ordnance imposes grave risks on the population. SOHR demands the Autonomous Administration and the concerned bodies to remove the war ordnance that spreading al-Baghouz heavily and risks life of civilians.
