Security vacuum | New assassination brings the number of people killed in Daraa province since the start of the recent agreement to 20

Daraa province: SOHR sources have reported that an old man working in agriculture business was shot dead by unknown gunmen on the road between the towns of al-Tabariyat and Tel Shehab in the west of Daraa.

 

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 20. The fatalities were distributed as follows:

 

  • 14 civilians, including a child, some of them were former fighter and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.

 

  • Six regime soldiers and members of the Russian-backed 5th

 

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,205 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 863 persons, categorised as follows:

 

  • 261 civilians, including 14 women and 25 children

 

  • 390 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.

 

  • 151 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.

 

  • 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.

 

  • 34 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
