Over 30 airstrikes in 24 since morning | Russian jets target ISIS positions in the Syrian desert

SOHR activists have reported that Russian fighter jets have executed over 30 airstrikes today, targeting ISIS positions in al-Rahjan and Athriya regions in the eastern desert of Hama, Jabal al-Bashary and Palmyra in eastern Homs.

The Russian airstrikes coincided with ongoing combing operations for searching for ISIS cells in several areas in the desert.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of two members of pro-regime militias and injury of six others in Jabal al-Bishri in Deir Ezzor countryside due to friendly fire by members of the regime-backed 17th Division, who thought that the attacked militiamen were ISIS members.

Meanwhile, Syrian Observatory activists reported that Russian jets carried out about 20 airstrikes since the early hours of Saturday morning on positions where ISIS cells were holed up in al-Rasafa desert, south-west of al-Raqqah.
