Tribal fight | Tension grows after gunmen killed civilian in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that a civilian from Hajin town was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on al-Rayana road in eastern Deir Ezzor.

 

According to sources, a group of gunmen believed to be brothers from al-Bahra town had chased the victim and shot him dead in light of the death of their brother, where the man’s body was found in his car on the main road.

 

The region is experiencing growing tension between the two families, while the Public Security Forces interfered to prevent the expansion of clashes.

 

Similarly, SDF checkpoints in Hajin and al-Bahra have confiscated weapons found with civilians during checking at these checkpoints.

 

On the other hand, a civilian sustained serious injuries in Gharanij town in Deir Ezzor countryside, after being hit with several gunshots, while an SDF patrol was pursuing him.

 

On October 21, a civilian was killed and another was wounded by gunmen who were riding a motorbike near al-Howiagah Road in Zobian town in east of Deir Ezzor.

 

SOHR sources added that the man was killed by his cousin in revenge crimes.

 

While on October 19, SOHR activists reported that three armed men of al-Wase’a village were injured in the countryside of al-Sour town in Deir Ezzor countryside which is under control of SDF, due to a fight took place between cousins in the village today, which evolved to armed clashes with shooting, causing injuries of three gunmen.

 

With the alarming prevalence of unlicensed firearms throughout Syria, family and tribal fights have been escalated, leaving large number of casualties every time.
