ISIS prisoners’ rebellion 24 hours on | Tension grows in Ghuwayran prison, while security units on high alert

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported ongoing rebellion by ISIS prisoners in Ghuwayran prison in al-Hasakah since yesterday evening, amid sporadic flights by International Coalition aircraft over the region. In addition, Coalition fighter jets have fired flares over the prison and broken the sound barrier. Meanwhile, Internal Security Forces and SDF-backed military groups have been encircled the prison and blocked all roads to it.

 

Observatory sources reported earlier this morning continuous hovering of the International Coalition in the vicinity of al-Sena’ah Prison stationed in al- Ghuwayran neighborhood in al-Hasakah province amid deployment of the military police and SDF-held security forces and al-Asayish in the vicinity of the prison that include prisoners of ISIS.

 

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported seeing International Coalition helicopters flying at a low altitude and firing flairs over al-Hasakah.

 

According to SOHR sources, Syria Democratic Forces, backed by International Coalition Forces, have transported prisoners from Ghuwayran prison in al-Hasakah to al-Shaddadi city’s prison, which was constructed with International Coalition support.

 

Local sources have reported that prisoners of ISIS carried out a rebellion in al-Sina’a prison this evening, while security forces were deployed in the perimeter of the prison.

 

A day earlier, International Coalition helicopters hovered over al-Hasakah city and opened the sound barrier at low altitude, which caused disturbance of the residents.
