Growing security chaos | Civilian killed by unidentified gunmen in east Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported a civilian from Nahatah Town in east Daraa countryside, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday evening. He was passed away in the National Hospital of his severe wounds.

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 28. The fatalities were distributed as follows:

• 17 civilians, including a child, some of them were former fighter and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.

• 11 regime soldiers, members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps and regime “collaborators”.

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,215 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 673 persons, categorised as follows:

• 264 civilians, including 14 women and 25 children

• 393 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services

• 152 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders

• 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces

• 35 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
