Preparing luggage 15 days ago |“Al-Hawl Mini-State” civil administration prevents dozens of families to leave

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that 50 families from Deir Ezzor are still stuck in al-Hawl camp’s reception center in al-Hasakah countryside, after they had prepared their luggage 15 days ago, to evacuate the camp with the mediation of tribes’ dignitaries and nobles in Deir Ezzor.

According to SOHR sources, Deir Ezzor tribes’ dignitaries and nobles demanded the civil administration to permit some families of al-Hawl camp to leave in October.

The civil administration agreed and gathered 50 families in the reception area of al-Hawl camp in preparation for transported them to their places in Deir Ezzor.

However, the camp’s civil administration hindered the process of evacuation under pretext that it doesn’t have the capabilities to transfer the families large luggage.

Since October 18, the families have been stuck in the reception center, hoping to leave the camp.

The reception center, that lacks many services, is composed of big tents to shelter families threatened by ISIS and other terrorist groups. It hosts 15 Syrian and Iraqi families who experienced threats by ISIS cells.

It is worth noting that the camp’s administration prevented some families, on October 21, from leaving the camp among the recently-evacuated batch which left to Deir Ezzor, as there were a lot of logistical supplies. At that time, only 18 families out of 41 families were allowed to leave the camp, while the remaining families were left in the open, after they had already packed their luggage. SOHR sources said that the administration of al-Hawl camp was preparing for evacuating the remaining families on November 7, after tribes’ elders and dignitaries had expressed their discontent over the obstacles placed by the camp’s administration.
