Four separate attacks in 24 hours | Five regime soldiers killed in Daraa

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that the number of regime soldiers killed in the attack on a vehicle transporting food to regime forces has risen to two, after the death of a soldier affected by the wounds he sustained in the attack.

 

A few hours ago, SOHR activists reported explosion of IED that was planted by unknown persons in car carrying food. The car belonged to the 5th Division in the regime army on the road connecting Ezr’a and al-Sheikh Meskeen cities in Daraa countryside.

 

The explosion caused death of a soldier of the regime security service and wounding other four. Following the blast, regime forces deployed checkpoints in the region along with conducting rigorous inspection for the passing cars.

 

Accordingly, the number of regime soldiers killed in Daraa province in four attacks in less than 24 hours has risen to five. These attacks, three assassinations and an IED explosion in a regime vehicle carrying food, were carried out in different areas in the northern, eastern and middle countryside of Daraa. The fatalities in today’s attack could be distributed as follows:

 

  • A solider joined regime army, after striking a reconciliation in Daraa, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Da’al city in Daraa province.

 

  • A regime soldier was killed in the east of al-Maliha town in east Daraa in gunfire by unknown gunmen.

 

  • A regime soldier was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Azra’a-al-Sheikh Meskeen road in north Daraa countryside. It is worth noting that the targeted soldier was from Sahl al-Ghab in north-west Hama countryside.

 

  • Two soldiers were killed in an IED explosion in a regime vehicle carrying food on the road between Izraa and Sheikh Maskeen

 

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 39. The fatalities were distributed as follows:

 

  • 19 civilians, including a child, some of them were former fighter and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.

 

  • 20 regime soldiers, members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps and regime “collaborators”.

 

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,223 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 881 persons, categorized as follows:

 

  • 265 civilians, including 14 women and 25 children.

 

  • 399 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.

 

  • 155 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.

 

  • 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.

 

  • 35 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
