SOHR: Three people killed in Turkish drone attack in Qamishli

A Turkish drone bombed a car in the Al-Hilaliya neighborhood in Qamishli city, western Kurdistan (northeast Syria) on Tuesday.

Hawar news agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the targeted car in the Hilaliya neighborhood, west of Qamishlo city, was burned and then exploded as a result of bombing by a Turkish army drone.

Sources said that the car was carrying three people, who all lost their lives.

A private source told PUKmedia that the three martyrs are Youssef Kolo, Mazloum Kolo, and Muhammad Mahmoud Kolo, who are all from one family.

Circulating images showed the escalation of the fire from a white SUV in the middle of a residential neighborhood in the city of Qamishli, while residents and rescue teams were trying to put out the fire.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had monitored an explosion inside a car that is likely to be a military one in Al-Hilaliya neighborhood in Qamishli city, within the areas controlled by the “Autonomous Administration (AANES).”

Turkish military often targets Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the AANES controlled regions with drones and artillery. The YPG makes up the majority of US-allied Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the region and several members of both forces have been killed in recent months as a result.
