Elaf from Beirut: After the number of people infected and deaths from the Corona virus increased significantly in all Syrian governorates during the recent period, a new epidemic known as the “black fungus” appeared that infected many civilians and caused the death of some of them amid a deficit affecting the health sector in Syria.

The “black fungus” disease also spread to other Syrian regions in northeastern Syria, where it was announced on the first of this November that a young man named “Khalaf al-Rasheed” from the town of Suluk in the northern countryside of Raqqa had died of this disease.

In his testimony to the “Syrian Observatory,” the doctor (A.A.), who resides in the northern countryside of Idlib, says that the “black fungus” that has been introduced in Syria can be considered a highly effective disease because it can affect people with weak immune systems and infect the lungs and sinuses. It is not known until now whether this disease is transmitted from one person to another through physical contact or through contact, but it is certain that it is transmitted through wounds exposed to contamination and the respiratory system.

He added, that the disease bears another name, which is “mucous mucous fungus”, which is a type of fungal infection, and although there are cases infected with this disease who had received the Corona vaccine, there is no definitive evidence of the relationship of this disease with the vaccine, and to prevent it, it must always be kept clean. The body, such as not revealing wounds on the body, if any, permanently changing and washing clothes, constantly washing hands and face, adhering to social distancing, not touching exposed surfaces, and wearing a mask in crowded places.

It also finally emphasizes the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the house, such as sterilizing the bathrooms and taking out the garbage, and despite the impactful power of this disease, it is not a cause for concern at the present time due to the lack of speed in its spread as the Corona virus.

It is worth noting that the Corona pandemic contributed to the deterioration of the health sector to a large extent due to the large numbers that are infected on a daily basis with weak capabilities and the inability of hospitals and health isolation centers to receive more cases, and due to the lack of sufficient support to cover the needs and requirements of the health sector in both Idlib and its countryside and Aleppo countryside North.

According to the latest statistics published by the Idlib Health Directorate on Monday, November 8, regarding the number of cases and deaths from the Corona virus, the number of infections reached about 89,625 cases, while the number of deaths reached 1892 deaths, while the cases of recovery from the virus reached 52,648 cases.
