More human losses in the ongoing clashes in al-Hasaka

Al-Hasakah Province:

An engineer died in Al-Hasakah city after being shot by a sniper on the outskirts of al-Miridian area in the center of Al-Hasakah city, which has witnessed  ongoing clashes between IS against the regime forces supported by NDF, al-Baath battalions and the militiamen loyal to them in the outskirts of al-Nashweh neighborhood, in the vicinity of Ghwyran neighborhood and in other areas in the city, coincided with airstrikes by the regime warplanes and helicopters on IS controlled areas, the clashes over the past days were accompanied by the explosion of a booby-trapped vehicles by the “Islamic State”, and the infiltration of IS members to some positions and facilities controlled by the regime forces in the city.

It is noted that, this attack is considered the fourth attack carried out on the city since May 30, where IS could advance in the third attack and take control over al- Ahdath Prison, the electricity company, the village of al- Dawodeyyi and other areas in the city before the regime forces and allied militiamen forced IS to retreat. The clashes accompanied by committing 11 suicide bombs by IS militants when they blew themselves up in booby- trapped vehicles in al- Ahdath Prison, the electricity company and near the regime checkpoints in south and southeast of the city of al- Hasakah. The clashes resulted in the death of at least 71 members of the regime forces and allied militiamen, including a leading figure in al- Baath battalions in al- Hasakah, as well as 48 IS militants. SOHR also documented the death of at least 43 IS militants with their families due to targeting a market in the city of al- Shaddadi by 4 rockets in late May, while 3 other civilians killed due to fall of shells on the city.
