Since latest Russian-sponsored agreement | 51 persons killed in Daraa, mostly civilians

Daraa province: SOHR has documented the death of two young men, after being shot by unknown gunmen in the village of Al-Hareek in east Daraa countryside.

 

On the other hand, a man was injured after being shot by unknown gunmen in Tel Shehab town in the western countryside of Daraa. According to the sources, the attackers blocked the victim who was riding his motorcycle, hijacked his motorcycle and opened fire on him. The man was taken to the hospital.

 

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 51. The fatalities were distributed as follows:

 

  • 28 civilians, including two children, some of them were former fighters and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.

 

  • 23 regime soldiers, members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps and regime “collaborators”.

 

Since the beginning of  the last agreement  in Daraa province, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,230 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 893 persons, categorised as follows:

 

  • 275 civilians, including 14 women and 26 children

 

  • 401 regime soldiers, loyalists, and collaborators with regime security services.

 

  • 155 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.

 

  • 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.

 

  • 35 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
