Security repression in Daraa | Regime forces storm Jasim city, arresting three civilians, while abuses continue at checkpoints

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported that regime forces have stormed a house in al-Aleya neighbourhood in Jasim city in north Daraa countryside, arresting a fimily of three. During the security campaign, regime forces beat the arrested severely and took them to security centers, but their fate remained unknown.

 

It is worth notig that regime’s checkpoints are prevalent all over Daraa governorate, where soldiers continuously abuse civilians, inspect them and clamp down on them to collect levies. In the center of al-Musaifra town in the east of Daraa province, Air-Force Intelligence set up a checkpoint, where soldiers inspected passers by, as for their IDs, take vegetables from trucks heading towards Damascus, take money from the drivers of private cars and prevent the entry of motorbikes to Daraa city.

 

SOHR sources have disclosed some of these checkpoints that abuse civilians, and they are as follows:

 

  • Mankib al-Hatab checkpoint: near the road between Damascus and Daraa.

 

  • Nafa’a junction checkpoint: west of Daraa province.

 

  • Masakin Jilen checkpoint.
  • Nawa city checkpoint: west of Daraa.

 

  • Daraa city checkpoints.
