Military escalation in Aleppo | Turkish forces shell two villages and the vicinity of military position in Kurdish-held areas

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that Turkish forces have fired artillery shells on al-Malikeyah and Shuwargha villages in Shirah district of Afrin countryside, and the vicinity of Menagh military airbase. However, no casualties have been reported yet.

 

On November 19, Syrian Observatory activists reported that Turkish forces renewed artillery attacks on areas under the control of Kurdish and regime forces in the northern countryside of Aleppo, as they targeted the surrounding areas of al-Ouda camp, which accommodated displaced people from Afrin, nearby al-Ziyyarah village in the northern countryside of Aleppo. Meanwhile, shrapnel of the artillery shells hit the camp.

 

Also, the villages of Mayyasa, Burj Qaas and Sawaghanka bushes in the same countryside came under Turkish artillery fire, but no casualties were reported.

 

While on November 18, SOHR sources reported that Turkish forces and their proxies shelled positions near the Russian base on the outskirts of Deir Jamal and other positions the villages of al-Malikiyyah, Shawargha, Shawargha fortress, Mar’inaz, Ibbin, Tanab and al-Irshadiyah in Sharra district in Afrin city in the northern countryside of Aleppo. However, no casualties were reported.

 

The Turkish bombardment came as a response to earlier bombardment on Afrin city, which left three civilians killed including a woman, and injury of 13 others including three children and a woman.
