Over 40 airstrikes in 24 hours | Russian jets strike ISIS positions in Syrian desert, bringing the number of airstrikes in November to 500

SOHR sources have reported that nearly ten Russian fighter jets have executed over 40 airstrikes on ISIS positions in al-Rassafa and Ithiria deserts in the early hours of Monday morning and at noon. Meanwhile, aerial operations have been suspended since afternoon.

SOHR sources had reported that Russian fighter jets renewed their airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the Syrian desert, as three Russian fighter jets consecutively bombarded ISIS positions, in the early hours of Monday morning, in the area from Aleppo-Raqqa-Hama triangle to Deir Ezzor and al-Raqqah deserts running through the eastern desert of Homs, with nearly 20 airstrikes. However, no casualties were reported.

Accordingly, the number of Russian airstrikes which targeted scattered ISIS hideouts in the Syrian desert since early November has exceeded 490.

The Russian airstrikes were concentrated on the area from east Hama desert to al-Rasafah desert in al-Raqqah running through Ithirya and al-Rahjan, and large spaces of Palmyra and Deir Ezzor desert. These airstrikes coincided with routine combing operations by regime forces in searching for ISIS cells in several positions in the Syrian desert.
