Israeli attack | Five regime soldiers and Lebanese Hezbollah-backed militiamen killed in Homs

SOHR sources have reported that the number of fatalities in the Israeli rocket fire this morning on Syrian territory has risen to five. Two of he fatalities were militiamen loyal to the Lebanese Hezbollah, whose nationalities have not been known so far, while the three others were regime soldiers, two of whom were in plain clothes at the time of the attack. The five people were killed due to the Israeli missiles which hit the western suburbs of Homs and shrapnel  of missiles by Israel and by regime air-defences.

Number of causalities is expected to rise because some of the wounded sustained severe injuries.

Earlier, SOHR sources reported that Israel continues its violations against Syria’ sovereignty with no reaction by the Syrian regime. Sources documented Israeli missiles were fired from Lebanese airspace in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting suburbs in west Homs city, where headquarters and positions of the Lebanese Hezbollah-backed militias are located, including al-Mazraa village that is considered as a hotbed for the group’s militiamen.

Meanwhile, regime air defences tried to intercept the Israeli missiles and loud explosions were heard in the western side of Homs.

The Israeli attack has left at least four people dead and others injured. Two of the victims were killed in the western districts, and two were killed by shrapnel of rockets fired by regime defences and Israel, that hit an area near a petrol station on Trablus road in Homs city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has yet to obtain confirmed reports on the targeted sites and the damage caused by the Israeli attack.

It is worth mentioning that this is the 26th Israel attacks hitting Syrian territory in 2021, six of them hit Homs province. The latest attack occurred a few weeks ago.

On November 8, SOHR activists reported that missiles coming from the airspace of north Lebanon hit areas hosting military barracks, the headquarters of a regime-backed prominent military formation and al-Shayrat airbase where the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias were stationed in the south-eastern countryside of Homs.
