Recruitment of children | Families of minor girls in “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” camps stage vigil in Amuda city

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported that the families of three minor girls, who had been recruited by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” (the Revolutionary Youth), staged a vigil near the headquarters of the Autonomous Administration of Al-Jazeera region in Amuda city in Al-Hasakah countryside. The families called for brining the girls back, while mothers appealed to the head of Syria Democratic Forces “Mazloum Abdi” and International and humanitarian organizations to interfere and bring their daughters back from the military camps of “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah”. It is worth noting that several civilians from Amuda city participated in the vigil, expressing solidarity with the girls’ families.

Despite repeated appeals by SOHR to stop recruitment of minors, “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” continue attracting children in SDF-held areas. According to SOHR sources, “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” recruited a boy known by his initials as K. H. From Al-Qamishli city in the past few days.

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, renew our appeals to the Autonomous Administration and SDF, the dominating powers in this region, to put an end to the recruitment of children by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” which exploits disagreements between children and their families to lure children to joint its military ranks. We also call upon the UNICEF and all organizations concerned with the rights of children not to abandon their responsibility and obligations to keep children away from military actions and work on bringing the little recruits back to their families.
