Shoura Council in northern Idlib accuses HTS of repression and embezzlement of funds

SOHR sources have reported that the Shoura Council (Consultative Assembly) in Deir Hassan village in Harem district in the northern countryside of Idlib has issued a statement, accusing Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham which controls Idlib city and parts of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Latakia countryside of “repressing the residents through arbitrary arrests, practicing stifling voices policy and embezzling funds of taxes which HTS collected from the residents”.

Here are highlights of the most important parts of the statement, of which the Syrian Observatory obtained a copy:

  • “Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham repressed and arbitrarily arrested noble people, including the arrest of a young man from the village called Omar Zakariya Dal’.

  • HTS practiced authoritarianism and stifling voices policy on the people of the Levant, repressed them, stockpiled many products and cared only about imposing influence in the area and collect money from the people.

  • The people of the Levant uprose against the Syrian regime to get rid of its injustice, not to accept another kind of injustice.

  • These irresponsible and tyrannical practices will not hinder our efforts to serve the interests of the people and eliminate injustice as possible as we can.

  • We demand HTS release all innocent detainees immediately.

We call upon all people in the liberated area not to keep silent and adhere to the principles of the glorious revolution.”
