IED attack | Explosion targets bus carrying oil workers in western Deir Ezzor, leaving 12 dead and wounded

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have documented the death of ten workers in Al-Kharatah oil field and the injury of at least two others due to an IED explosion in their bus in the south-western countryside of Deir Ezzor where ISIS cells are prevalent.

It is worth noting that Al-Kharatah oil field is located in the south-western countryside of Deir Ezzor, nearly 20 kilometres away from the site where the bus was attacked, and it was captured by regime forces in September 2017 following violent battles against ISIS in that region.

On November 14, Observatory sources documented the death of 18 members of regime forces and loyal militias in different areas of the Syrian desert. The fatalities were as follows: a brigadier general and four of his escorts, as well as 13 members of the regime-backed “Usoud al-Sharqiyyah” (al-Sh’aytat).
