“Olive Branch” areas in November | Nearly 115 arbitrary arrests including eight women and a child

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) documented the arrest of 114 females and males by the Turkish-backed factions in the “Olive Branch” areas under control of the Turkish forces and their proxy factions.

 

Sources stressed that most of the arrests happened without legal warrants and were carried out upon orders of the factions’ leaders and via well organized and planned raids that basically aimed to collecting levies. The people who reject to pay levies will be subject to forcible disappearance.

 

SOHR documented individual and mass arrests by the Turkish-backed factions in order to collect levies that varied between 1,500 TL to 2,000 TL. Most of the arbitrary arrests took place in Ma’mal Aoushaghy village in Rajo region, where 29 males and females were arrested by Mohamed Al-Fateh faction and the military police, and in Esikka village in Jendires region where 27 males were arrested by Al-Sham Corps factions.

 

SOHR has monitored and tracked November’s arrests in the “Olive Branch” areas, which could be summarised as the following:

 

November 1

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh and the military police stormed Ma’mal Aoushaghy village in Rajo and arrested 14 persons on ready-made charge of “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”, and they were released later after paying 2,000 TL.

 

  • The military police in Jarabulus city arrested two persons in their way back to Afrin for similar charges to collect ransom.

 

  • In Otmanah village in Rajo neighbourhood, two women were arrested “teaching Kurdish language”, then they were released after paying a ransom of 1,500 TL.

 

  • Joint patrol of Turkish Intelligence and Civil Police arrested two persons from Kamrouk village, one person from Mist Ashour and another from Haj Qasem village on charge of “taking part in guard shifts during the control of the Autonomous Administration on the region”.

 

  • Political security service arrested a person from Koubra village in Rajo neighbourhood on charge of “dealing with Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 2

 

  • Jaish Al-Nokhba faction arrested a person from Amarah village in Rajo district on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration” in order to collect a ransom.

 

 

November 3

 

  • A patrol of political police service in Mar’a city headed to Afrin and arrested a person from Afrin on charge of “conducting the military service with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • Turkey-backed Al-Sham Corps faction arrested 17 civilians including three women from Iska village in Jendires district for “dealing with Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 4

 

  • Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah faction arrested leaders of the Arab tribe of Al-Bobna tribe and ordered them to leave their houses.

 

  • Al-Majad Corps faction arrested two persons from Kyla village because they rejected the faction decision of imposing 300 olive oil drums on the village’s people.

 

  • Al-Sham Corps faction arrested five persons from Iska for “dealing with Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 6

 

  • Members of the Sham Corps arrested six civilians from Iska village on charge of “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 7

 

  • Al-Sultan Mohamed Al-Fateh faction arrested four persons from M’amal Oushaghy village in Rajo district on charge of “participating in guard shifts during the control of the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • The military police arrested a young man from Ma’ratah village in Afrin countryside on charge of “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration”

 

  • Another person form Omo neighbourhood in Azaz city over the same accusation.

 

 

November 9

 

  • The military police in Al-Bab city arrested a young man from Haj Hasnaly village in Al-Sheik Hadid district on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

November 10

 

  • The civil police arrested displaced person from Rif Dimashq in Rajo countryside on charge of “filming a videotape about sufferings of the displaced people in light of looting the relief supplies”.

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Rajo for unknown reason.

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Jaqala Jouma village and beat him severely on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Rajo on charge of “teaching the Kurdish language during the Autonomous Administration control of the region”.

 

 

November 11

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Ba’adanly village in Rajo district on charge of “taking part in pro-Autonomous Administration marches”.

 

 

November 12

 

  • The military police officers stationed at Al-Qous checkpoint in Afrin city arrested two persons from Yalanqouz village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh factions arrested one person from Ma’mal Oushaghy village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 13

 

  • The civil police and Sultan Murad factions arrested three persons from Kourah Koul villages on charge of “participating in guard shifts during the control of the Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 14

 

  • The military police in Azaz city arrested a person from Omo village in his way to the city for unknown reasons.

 

  • Al-Liwaa 112 (the 112th Brigade) arrested a child from Ba’adanly village on charge of “riding a motorbike”. The child was released later, after his family paid 400 TL.

 

 

November 15

 

  • Al-Jabaha Al-Shamiyah faction arrested a person from the Syrian coastline during his attempt to cross to Turkey, and he was released later after paying 18,000 US dollars.

 

 

November 17

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh faction arrested a person from Ma’mal Oushaghy village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”. The man was later released after paying 1,500 TL.

 

  • The same faction also arrested another person on charge of “insulting the Turkish forces”, and the took him to Rajo district until the requested levy was paid.

 

 

November 18

 

  • Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction arrested a person from Rajo district for unknown reason.

 

  • The military police arrested four persons from Kaf Safrah village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh factions arrested six persons from Ma’amal Oushaghy on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Koukan village and took him to the notorious Ma’ratah prison.

 

 

November 19

 

  • Liwaa Al-Waqas faction arrested two persons from Hakjah village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration” for collecting ransom.

 

 

November 21

 

  • The military police and Turkish intelligence arrested a person from Jendires and took him to unknown place for unknown charges.

 

  • Al-Sham faction arrested a person from Fafirteen village for unknown reasons.

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh faction arrested two persons from Mist Ashour village for unknown reasons.

 

 

November 22

 

  • The military police arrested a person from Demilo village on charge of “insulting the Turkish forces” in order to collect a levy.

 

  • Another person from Efrizyah village was arrested on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

 

November 23

 

  • Liwaa Al-Samarqand faction arrested three persons, including a woman, from Kafr Safrah village on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration”.

 

November 24

 

  • Mohamed Al-Fateh faction arrested two persons from Ma’amal Oushaghy on charge of “dealing with the Autonomous Administration” in order to collect ransom.

 

 

November 25

 

  • Sultan Suleiman Shah faction “Al-Ashmat” arrested five persons from Al-Sheikh Hadeed on charge of “filing a complaint to the Rights Restitution Committee”.

 

  • The faction also arrested two other persons from Khalil village for unknown charges.

 

 

November 28

 

  • The military police arrested two persons from Bulbul district for unknown charges.

 

 

November 29

 

  • Political security services arrested a young man with special needs from Shiko Razah village for unknown reasons.
