Dynamite explosion | Worker dies near frontlines between SDF-held areas and “Peace Spring” areas

SOHR activists have reported that a worker died in a dynamite explosion today, while digging tunnels in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) near the Syria-Turkey border.

SDF works on digging tunnels along the frontlines with Turkey and “Peace Spring” operation areas.

SOHR sources reported that SDF is digging 12-metres-deep tunnels under all frontlines in Kobani, Manbij and Ain Issa areas.

Sources added that the workers receive daily salaries that don’t exceed 15,000 Syrian Liras despite all the dangers and difficulties of their work, where the workers are forced to use explosions “dynamites” to crush the rocks delaying digging process. Salaries vary according to how dangerous the area of work is, with increased salaries if the area is near a frontline with Turkish-backed factions.

Moreover, the frontlines, where the workers work, are subject to bombardment by Turkish forces, putting their life at risk.
