Syrian desert | Russian jets execute 23 airstrikes since early December, while Russian and regime-backed militias bring in new reinforcement

SOHR sources have reported that Russian fighter jets have executed eight airstrikes on the deserts of Al-Rasafah in south-western Al-Raqqah and Al-Shawla in the west of Deir Ezzor in east Syria.

 

Accordingly, the number of airstrikes by Russian jets on the Syrian desert since early December has exceeded 23.

 

On the other hand, regime forces and militias loyal to Russian and regime forces brought in new reinforcement to several positions in the desert, as a part of preparations for confronting possible surprise attacks by ISIS cells.

 

This comes with the noticeable escalation of ISIS attacks across the Syrian desert, along with ongoing combing operations by regime forces and NDF in Deir Ezzor desert.
