Four Russian fighter jets have conducted more than fifteen raids on ISIS cells hotbeds in the desert areas of Al-Rasafah in western Al-Raqqah and Al-Shoulah in western Deir Ezzor for the second consecutive day.
The Russian attack took place while the regime forces and its proxies brought in new military reinforcement near western and southern desert areas of Deir Ezzor to carry on regular combing operations in search for ISIS cells.
Yesterday, three Russian fighter jets conducted eight raids on ISIS hideouts Al-Rasafah in western Al-Raqqah and Al-Shoulah in western Deir Ezzor.
These airstrikes come in light of the dramatic escalation in ISIS activities across the Syrian desert, as well as combing operations by the regime and national defence forces in Deir Ezzor desert in search of ISIS cells.
Meanwhile, regime forces and militias loyal to Russian and regime forces brought in new reinforcement to several positions in the desert, as a part of preparations for confronting possible surprise attacks by ISIS cells.
Accordingly, the number of airstrikes by Russian jets on the Syrian desert since early December has reached 38.
This comes with the noticeable escalation of ISIS attacks across the Syrian desert, along with ongoing combing operations by regime forces and the NDF in Deir Ezzor desert.
