“ Unauthorized protest” | “Al-Asayish” prevents protest in Al-Qamishli city and arrests six Rudaw reporters

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that internal security forces “Al-Asayish” has mobilized its forces in Al-Qamishli city to prevent demonstration, in front of the UN headquarters, staged by members of the Kurdish national council and some families of minors, previously recruited by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah”, on the pretext that there was no authorization for the demonstration organized by the Kurdish National Council to call for bringing little daughters back to their families.

Subsequently, Al-Asayish forces have raided Rudaw Chanel’s office on Al-Syahi street in Al-Qamishli city, arresting six journalists, including the director of the office, on the pretext of covering an unauthorized protest.

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human call for the immediate release of the six journalists arrested by “Al- Asayish” Internal Security Forces and respect freedom of expression and information in northern and eastern Syria.

On November 29, SOHR activists reported that “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” is increasingly recruiting and involving children in armed conflict in “autonomous administration” areas and SDF-held areas, ignoring the laws and international covenants that prohibit the exploitation of children.

According to SOHR sources, “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” recruited a boy known by his initials as H. N. From Kika village in Amouda countryside, taking a 13-yaer-old bay to its camp in al-Qamishli countryside. “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” also recruited a boy known by his initials as M. H. From Shaikh Maksoud neighborhood in Aleppo city.

On November 27, SOHR activists reported that “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” recruited a boy known by his initials as K. H. From Al-Qamishli city in the past few days.
On November 24, Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah recruited three minor girls known by their initials as “A. A.” “H. P.” and “A. K.” from al- Amouda city in al-Hasakah countryside.
Furthermore, a minor girl from Plisia village in Malikiyah (Dayrek) countryside was recruited by al-Shabiba al-Thawriyah two months ago, according to SOHR sources

 

On November 28, SOHR activists monitored that the families of female minors, recruited by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah”, protested, in front of the UN headquarters in Al-Qamishli city, with the presence of members of the Kurdish National Council.

The girls’ relatives called for bringing their little daughters back and putting an end to the recruitment of children in the ranks of Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah.

The families of female minors lifted banners in front of the United Nations headquarters stating, ” Child Recruitment strikes fear into the hearts of mothers – Minors are candles- Don’t blow our candles – Our little children are the pen of life – Child hold weapon, how come?”
