New assassination | Regime-backed member killed in western countryside of Daraa

Daraa province: SOHR activists have monitored a new assassination in Daraa, where a member of the 4th Division was killed after being targeted by unidentified gunmen in Tafs city in the western Daraa countryside while he was with a former commander of the rebel factions who was also injured.

It is worth noting that the victims had undergone “reconciliations” recently after they were among the rebel factions previously, and joined the local groups of the regime-backed 4th Division.

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 79. The fatalities were distributed as follows:
• 40 civilians, including two child and a woman, some of them were former fighter and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.
• 35 regime soldiers, members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps and regime “collaborators”.
• Four local gunmen of anti-reconciliation groups.
Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,259 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 920 persons, categorised as follows:
• Four local gunmen of anti-reconciliation groups.
• 287 civilians, including 16 women and 26 children
• 411 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.
• 156 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.
• 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.
• 35 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
