Two assassinations in few hours | Central Committee member and a deputy mayor killed in Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported two assassinations in Daraa province within a few hours. The deputy mayor of Enkhel was shot dead by unidentified gunmen who stormed the building of the municipal assembly in northern Daraa countryside, while a member of Daraa Central Committee in charge of the western sector of the province was also shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Tel Shihab town, west of Daraa.

Accordingly, the number of people who were killed across Daraa province since the start of the recent agreements has risen to 81. The fatalities were distributed as follows:
• 42 civilians, including two children and a woman, some of them were former fighter and gave up fighting after striking reconciliation deals in 2018.
• 35 regime soldiers, members of the Russian-backed 5th Corps and regime “collaborators”.
• Four local gunmen of anti-reconciliation groups.
Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,262 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 922 persons, categorised as follows:
• Four local gunmen of anti-reconciliation groups.
• 289 civilians, including 16 women and 26 children
• 411 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.
• 156 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.
• 27 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.
• 35 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
