Heinous crime | Man lures his mute wife to Turkey, takes away her daughters and deports her arbitrarily to Syria
SOHR calls upon Turkish authorities and international bodies to bring the daughters back to their mother and hold the husband accountable
Syrian society has been shocked, after a video footage posted on social media showing a deaf-mute lady called “Bana” from Baniyas city in Tartus province crying hysterically, after she and her daughters had been lured by the girls’ father to Turkey, where the man kidnapped the girls and deported the mother arbitrarily to Syria.
Too many activists on social media have expressed their sympathy for the lady who has special needs and the little girls who have been deprived of their mother.
The war’s harsh impacts have plagued the Syrian children and people with special needs, like “Bana”, who have been deprived from their basic rights, including living in a safe country, and exposed to inhumane acts at a time when the international community is silent and seems indifferent to the heinous crimes committed against women and children.
“Bana” is one of millions of Syrian women who face an uncertain future, after being plagued with fear and hunger due to the devastating military battles throughout Syria. However, the lady today is robbed of her children, and is unable to describe her suffering in words.
We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), express our “unconditional” solidarity with “Bana” and call upon the Turkish authorities, Turkish human rights organizations and all international actors to interfere and bring the young daughters back to their mother as soon as possible and hold the husband accountable.
