Ongoing violations | Turkish-backed factions expel shop owners and destroy 20 shops in Ras Al-Ain

As Turkish-backed factions continue their violations against the people of Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) in the north-western countryside of Al-Hasakah, in “Peace Spring” areas, SOHR sources have reported that the Local Council in Ras Al-Ain city threatened to destroy over 50 shops in Tel Halaf town, which is located nearly two kilometres to the west of Ras Al-Ain city, if the owners of these shops did not hand over them to the Turkish-backed militiamen.

Under these Local Council’s threats, some shop owners have emptied their shops and took away the doors. Meanwhile, the owners of nearly 20 shops refused to comply with the Local Council’s decision, so the factions destroyed, this afternoon, over 20 shops near Tel Halaf roundabout.

The Turkish-backed factions justified this decision that these shops were established on “public properties”. However, SOHR sources have confirmed that these shops have existed for over 20 years, as they were established during the Syrian regime’s control of that region.

It is worth noting that the factions of the Turkish-backed National Army continue seizing private and public properties in Ras Al-Ain city and countryside for their own favour.
