Renewed airstrikes | Russian jets strike positions in Deir Ezzor desert, after suspension of aerial operations for over 24 hours
SOHR sources have reported that Russian fighter jets executed eight airstrikes on Al-Masrab desert in Deir Ezzor countryside, after they have suspended their aerial operations for over 24 hours.
On the other hand, regime forces and their proxies brought in military reinforcement to their positions in Al-Masrab desert following ISIS attack on positions of regime forces and the Palestinian Liwaa Al-Quds. The attack had left nearly 25 regime soldiers and loyalists dead and wounded.
Accordingly, the number of Russian airstrikes which have targeted ISIS positions in the Syrian desert since early December have exceeded 89.
SOHR sources had reported that regime forces and their proxies brought in military reinforcement to areas near western and southern deserts of Deir Ezzor and south-west desert of Al-Raqqah with the aim to start routine combing operations, searching for ISIS cells.
This development coincided with the noticeable escalation of ISIS attacks across the Syrian desert, along with ongoing combing operations by regime forces and NDF in Deir Ezzor desert.
