Fourth batch in two months | Regime security services release nearly 20 prisoners from Daraa

SOHR sources have reported that regime authorities released a new batch of prisoners from Daraa today. These prisoners were arrested at various periods of time and for various charges, after regime forces had regained control of the entire province in 2018.

According to sources, this batch, which was the fourth one of its kind in nearly two months, included nearly 20 prisoners. It is worth noting that the recently-released people included no political prisoners.

On December 4, reliable SOHR sources reported that regime forces released 21 detainees from Daraa province. The detainees had been taken to the hall of the governorate complex in Daraa city where they were released in presence of the chiefs of several security branches and groups of Al-Baath Party. It is worth noting that most of the recently-released people were not political prisoners, and most of them were arrested over various crimes, after regime forces had captured Daraa province in 2018.

Regime security services had released two other batches of detainees from Daraa in November, where the first batch was released on November 14 when nearly 20 prisoners were released. The other batch comprised 25 prisoners who were released on November 23.
