SOHR: Israeli missile attack on Syria

A Syrian military source revealed that an Israeli missile attack targeted the southern region at dawn today, Thursday, killing a soldier.

And local media reported that the bombing targeted some points in the southern region, noting that the Syrian air defenses responded and shot down most of the missiles.

The port of Latakia was subjected to Israeli strikes a few days ago targeting arms shipments to Iranian militias, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Also, the bombing at that time led to “a number of commercial containers igniting” without causing casualties, according to what was reported by the media, which reported that the regime’s air defenses responded to the Israeli bombardment in the airspace of Latakia.

Hundreds of hits: It is noteworthy that during the past years, Israel launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, targeting sites of the regime’s army, especially Iranian targets and others of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia.

An Israeli bombardment on November 24 killed 5 people, including 3 soldiers from the Syrian regime, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Two soldiers of the Syrian regime were wounded on the eighth of last November as a result of Israeli shelling targeting sites in central and western Syria, according to regime media outlets. On the third of the same month, an Israeli strike targeted an area in which arms and ammunition depots belong to pro-Iranian fighters are located in Damascus countryside, according to the observatory.

Israel rarely confirms carrying out strikes in Syria, but it reiterates that it will continue to confront what it describes as Iran’s attempts to entrench its military presence in Syria.
