SOHR: Members of the regime forces were killed and injured, and Iran’s militias reinforce their fortifications

Five members of the regime forces were killed and wounded, amid reports that the militias loyal to Iran have reinforced their fortifications for fear of being targeted, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, on Saturday.

The observatory stated that two members of the Syrian regime forces were killed, while 3 others were injured as a result of an armed attack by ISIS cells, which targeted a military vehicle that was carrying them on the road between the cities of Maskana and Debsi Afnan in the southwest of Raqqa governorate in the north of the country.

This comes a day after an attack by ISIS militants targeting the sites of the regime’s “National Defense” militia in the Hamra area within the Al-Mayadin desert in Deir Ezzor countryside, which led to the injury of 4 of them and the wounding of some of them seriously.

In a related context, reports stated that the pro-Iranian militias are working to fortify their positions west of the Euphrates River in the area opposite the towns of Al-Susah and Al-Baghouz and within villages located on the Al-Bukamal-Al-Mayadin line, they have been working for days to fortify their positions and points.

SOHR reports indicated that these fortifications were carried out by raising earthen berms within them, and changing some points and sites for “camouflage” for fear of being targeted.

The Syrian Observatory had previously indicated that a shipment of weapons and ammunition entered Syrian territory, coming from Iraqi territory, loaded on board vegetable trucks for camouflage “for fear of being targeted” by Israel or the international coalition forces, as the trucks headed to the city of Al-Mayadin, and the trucks were unloaded Inside warehouses in the archaeological area of Shibli, according to his sources.
