Deir Ezzor | Regime forces continue searching for ISIS’ money and weapons caches reported by ex-IS fighters

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have said that regime forces and their security services have raided the towns of Mohassan, Al-Marbaiyah, Baqrs, and Bowlil, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor during the past days, searching for and digging up gun warehouse and funds hidden by ISIS cells in these areas during their control.

Regime forces has been informed about ISIS warehouse by former ISIS members and leaders who had recently made “reconciliation” with the regime.

According to SOHR activists, The excavation by regime forces starts at night and lasts for hours. This coincided with the curfew imposed on civilians in the aforementioned areas.

 

 

 

 

 

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that security patrols of general intelligence service of regime” Security services” of Deir Ezzor City branch encircled the devastating commercial bank in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

This devastated commercial bank is a three-storey building and cellar that was bombed by coalition aircraft in 2017 causing the destruction of the three floors but the building basement was not affected.

In the presence of the intelligence chief of Deir Ezzor branch, State Security personnel removed some of the rubble and opened a gap to the basement.

The personnel of security services found money, gold, and documents belonging to ISIS and some weapons in a tunnel linking the basement of the commercial bank to Al-Hassan school, where there was, taking valuables to state security headquarters in Deir Ezzor.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, regime personnel knew about the warehouse as “Abu Ahmad Al-Ansari,” a former ISIS member from Deir Ezzor who had recently made “reconciliation” with the regime, has informed regime personnel.

In October 2017, Iranian-backed militias, accompanied by regime forces, took control of Al-Mayadeen city, east of Deir Ezzor, which was one of the most prominent strongholds of ISIS during its control of areas in Deir Ezzor province.

On November 28, SOHR activists reported that over 1,000 persons stroke “Settlements” today, in the reconciliation center in al-Mayadin city in Deir Ezzor countryside, after regime intelligence called for striking settlements few days ago.

According to sources, nearly 1,050 persons, including former elements of the anti-regime factions, regime defectors, weapon dealers and suspects on terrorism charges from different areas of Dier Ezzor countryside, have undergone reconciliation deals in the city center that was established by regime intelligence on November 25.

It is worth noting that al-Nahr road in al-Mayadin city was closed due to overcrowding in front of the reconciliation center, where the vicinity of the Inaash center and al-Nahr road in al-Mayadin city witnessed high-security alert by regime soldiers.
