Third day in row | Calm prevails all over the de-escalation zone

For the third consecutive day, SOHR activists have monitored that calm prevails in all areas and fighting frontlines in the “de-escalation” zone in the countryside of Idlib, Aleppo, Latakia, and Hama due to weather conditions in all Syrian territory.

Yesterday SOHR activists reported that The “de-escalation zone”, stretching from the north-eastern mountains of Latakia to the north-western suburbs of Aleppo city running through both Hama and Idlib, experienced a complete cessation of aerial operations by regime jets and helicopters for 22 consecutive months, because of the new ceasefire agreed upon after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Receb Tayyip Erdogan on March 5, 2020. Also, SOHR activists documented no civilian deaths by regime aircraft in the 85th month after escalating their operations in Syria.

Regime jets and helicopters completed their first month of the eighth consecutive year of their operations in Syria. Throughout these years, regime aircraft targeted Syrian cities, towns, villages, and farms, executing thousands of sorties and airstrikes and dropping tens of thousands of explosive barrel-bombs. All of that caused tragic human losses and great destruction to the infrastructure and public and private buildings and properties.
