Deir Ezzor countryside | Self-Defence Forces clash with smugglers

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that Asayish Forces stormed a house in Al-Sha’fa city in eastern Deir Ezzor, arresting a civilian for “involving in smuggling operations”. The man was taken to a prison in Hajin.

On the other hand, exchange of fire erupted between members of Self-Defence Forces stationed in their post in Al-Jinah area and smugglers, where they were smuggling oil across Euphrates river to areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias in Deir Ezzor countryside.

Yesterday, reliable sources informed SOHR that groups of SDF and Deir Ezzor Military Council Forces stormed several river crossings in Al-Busayrah town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The security forces confiscated pipes and equipment used for pumping oil from SDF-held areas to areas under the control of regime forces and Iranian-backed militias across the Euphrates river.

A day earlier, reliable sources told SOHR that SDF patrols stormed river crossings between the banks of the Euphrates river in Al-Sabha town in eastern Deir Ezzor. The SDF confiscated large amounts of flour en route to areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias on the opposite bank. This came with the ongoing campaigns to confront smuggling operations in several areas in Deir Ezzor countryside.
