Countering ISIS | Russian jets bomb ISIS hideouts in Al-Sokhnah desert, east Homs

Since the early hours of Saturday morning, Russian fighter jets have bombed ISIS hideouts in Al-Sokhnah, east of Homs. No casualties have been reported.

Early today, SOHR activists reported that Iran-backed militias waged an armed attack in Khamsumiya village in Al-Bishri desert south-east of Al-Raqqa, killing more than 100 sheep and abducting a shepherd.

It is worth noting that this attack is one of a string of periodical attacks by Iranian militias on shephards in the Syrian desert.

This incident comes as regime forces and their affiliated non-Syrians militias are combing the desert in search for ISIS cells

On December 22, SOHR activists reported that Al-Quds Brigade, Al-Baqir Brigade, Fatemiyoun militia, Russian Wagner mercenaries, National Defence Forces, and regime forces launched a large-scale military operation against ISIS cells in the Syrian desert in light of the escalating attacks by ISIS cells. The operation covered the area from the desert of Homs to the south-eastern region of Aleppo province running through the deserts of Hama, Al-Raqqa, and Deir Ezzor.
