Deteriorating security in Daraa | Tension grows between Russian-backed Eighth Brigade and Air-Force Intelligence service

Daraa Province: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the “Eighth Brigade” which is affiliated to the Russian-backed “Fifth Corps” stormed a checkpoint of the “Air-Force Intelligence” service at Khirbet Ghazaleh after verbal altercation which evolved to a hand-to-hand fight between an officer heading the checkpoint and a member of the Eighth Brigade who refused to show his personal identity to the members stationed at the checkpoint, while reinforcement brought in by both sides, amid growing tension in the region.

On December 23, SOHR activists reported that clashes with machineguns, between gunmen belonging to “Abu Taaja”, one of the most previously wanted by regime, and a member of the central committee in Daraa al-Balad, in Daraa camp, after the member attacked Abu Taaja’s house. However, clashes resulted in injuries between the two sides.
