Highest daily number in December | 35 Russian airstrikes hit Al-Raqqa desert

Russian fighter jets have carried out more than 35 airstrikes on caves and grottoes in mountains believed to be ISIS hideouts in Al-Rusafa desert in Raqqa countryside.

These Russian airstrikes are the highest daily number of airstrikes since early December.

This attack brings the number of Russian airstrikes that hit the Syrian desert since early December to 220

on December 25, SOHR sources reported that Russian fighter jets bombed ISIS hideouts in Al-Sokhnah, east of Homs. No casualties were reported.

SOHR activists also reported that Iran-backed militias waged an armed attack in Khamsumiya village in Al-Bishri desert south-east of Al-Raqqa, killing more than 100 sheep and abducting a shepherd.

It is worth noting that this attack is one of a string of periodical attacks by Iranian militias on shepherds in the Syrian desert.

This incident came as regime forces and their affiliated non-Syrians militias were combing the desert in search of ISIS cells
