SOHR: Two gunmen loyal to the Syrian government were killed in the Israeli bombing of Lattakia

Two gunmen loyal to the Syrian government were killed on Wednesday, succumbed to injuries sustained in the Israeli shelling that targeted the port of Latakia in western Syria at dawn on Tuesday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Israeli missiles, according to the Syrian official media, hit the container yard in the port, in the second targeting of its kind to hit this vital facility this month.

On December 7, Israel targeted the port of Latakia for the first time.

The observatory stated that “two Syrian gunmen from loyalist groups died on Wednesday of wounds sustained during the bombing,” noting that three other members were wounded.

At dawn on Tuesday, the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted a militIG source as saying, “The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with rockets from the depth of the Mediterranean, west of the city of Latakia, targeting the container yard in the commercial port in Latakia.”

SANA quoted the commander of the Latakia Fire Brigade as saying that “the targeted materials in the containers are oils and spare parts for vehicles and vehicles.” However, the observatory, in turn, reported that the bombing targeted “containers containing weapons and ammunition. It is not known whether they were of Iranian origin.”
