First anniversary of Soleimani’s assassination | Iranian proxies transport medium and long-range missiles to fortified area facing Al-Tanaf base

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that, Iranian proxies transported sophisticated weapons to “Al-Kimawi Battalion” located in the eastern Palmyra mountain range, in the east of Homs desert, near “Sawana” mountainous area far more than 60 km south of Palmyra, during the past hours.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the weapons included Iranian-made medium and long-range missiles, while the position to which the weapons were transferred is fully fortified and is not approached in any way, near it is a nature reserve that livestock has also been prevented from approaching. “Al-Kimawi Battalion” hosts underground shelters and tunnels that facilitate the underground movement, there are also Iranian military experts.

Reliable sources have added that these weapons were transferred from Iranian proxies warehouses located in very high mountain “Jabal Muhammad ibn Ali,” which is in sight of Palmyra.

It is worth noting that these weapons have been transferred towards Al-Tanaf base, where the international coalition forces are located.

This incident has coincided with the anniversary of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, a prominent Iranian general who was killed by US aircraft in Iraqi territory a year ago.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that the International Coalition Forces stationed in Al-Tanaf base at Iraq-Jordan-Syria borders triangle instructed their loyal Maghawir Al-Thawra faction to be put on high alert and deployed in the perimeter of the base which is located at the 55-kilometre zone in the Syrian desert, fearing retaliatory attacks by Iran-backed militiamen on the anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s death.

On the other hand, SOHR sources reported that Coalition forces stationed in Al-Tanaf base were preparing shelters and bulwarks to protect the forces from any possible attacks that may be carried out by Iran-backed militia.
