Renewed bombardment | Turkish forces shell positions in Tel Tamr district

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR sources have reported that positions in Tel Tamr district in the north-western countryside of Al-Hasakah came under heavy artillery fire by Turkish forces this evening, as the bombardment was concentrated on Al-Dardarah village.

The bombardment also targeted positions in the villages of Tel Tawil, Tel Jumaa, Um Al-Kaif and Al-Tawelah adjacent to “M4” highway. However, no casualties have been reported.

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported intensive artillery and rocket fire by Turkish forces and “National Army” on Tel Tamr countryside north-west of Al-Hasakah, targeting the Assyrian villages of Tel Tawil and Tel Jumaa and Umm Al-Kaif and Al-Tawila villages adjacent to M4 international highway, west of Tel Tamr. However, no causalities were reported.

Turkish intensive shelling coincided with a new civilian exodus from bombed areas to safer areas, fearing an escalation of shelling.

On January 1, SOHR sources reported intensive rocket fire by Turkish forces on the centre of Abu Raseen district “Zarkan” and the villages of Al-Khadrawi and Assadiya in Abu Raseen countryside in north-western Al-Hasakah. The Turkish bombardment coincided with a new civilian exodus due to the intensive bombardment.

The displaced people headed towards villages in the eastern countryside of Abu Raseen, Al-Dirbasiyah and Al-Hasakah city while camps had refused to receive more displaced people for lack of free space.

It is worth noting that the Turkish shelling caused the death of seven civilians and the injury of 20 others in less than a week.
