Anti-smuggling operation in Deir Ezzor | SDF storms smuggling crossings in Al-Shaheel town

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that clashes have erupted, in Al-Shaheel town in east Deir Ezzor countryside, between members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and smugglers.

The clashes come after SDF’s military patrol had stormed smuggling crossings stationed between areas under control of the SDF and the regime forces on the other bank of Euphrates river, leaving wounded people, but no casualties were reported yet.

On January 2, SOHR sources reported that SDF stormed river crossings used for smuggling operation in Al-Sabha in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and confiscated fishing boats and equipment used for smuggling and transporting goods from the SDF-held areas to areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias across Euphrates river.

This comes in light of the ongoing anti-smuggling operations in vast areas in Deir Ezzor countryside.
