400,000 people deprived of drinking water | Russian warplanes destroy water station in Idlib

Idlib province: SOHR activists have monitored interruption of water in several neighbourhoods for the third day since “Al-Arshany” water station was put out of service on January 2, due to Russian warplanes airstrikes.

According to sources, maintenance teams arrived yesterday to repair the electrical malfunction and pumping lines, However they have failed to fully repair them until now.

It is worth noting that the station provides water for nearly 400,000 people in Idlib, while other areas get water from different stations.

Water Institution in the city seeks to provide Idlib city with water through other internal stations temporarily before humanitarian crisis occurs in the city.

Meanwhile, the price of water tank increased dramatically reaching 100 Turkish Liras each, due to increasing demand of drinking water. On the other hand, an old project was reactivated, and it provides the city 3500 square meter of water per day, as well as operating internal stations and wells to reduce people’s suffering.
