Rising tension | Fight erupts following beating old man by traffic officer in Ain Issa

Reliable sources have told SOHR that a traffic officer has beaten an old man at a checkpoint in Ain Issa town in northern Al-Raqqah for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, a fight erupted between a group of civilians and officers of the traffic police over this incident, which caused material damage.

On December 31, SOHR sources reported that the Internal Security Forces “Asayish” released a young man from “Jeb Al-Sha’ara” village in the countryside of Manbij, east of Aleppo. The prisoner was arrested 40 days earlier when he was summoned as a witness in a case.

According to Syrian Observatory activists, “Asayish” patrol threw the young man at Manbij city’s Al-Hayat hospital, after losing his memory as a result of being severely tortured in its prison.

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, call on the holders of power in north and east Syria and the Autonomous Administration to punish those who tortured the young man in a brutal manner, which led to his memory loss.
