Renewed attacks | Drones hit Iranian proxies’ positions west Euphrates and explosions heard near US base east Euphrates

“Unidentified” drones have renewed their airstrikes on Iranian proxies’ positions in the western Euphrates region, targeting military positions in Al-Tabni area and Al-Masrab desert in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor since the early hours of Thursday morning, causing material damages and casualties.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, drones strikes were preceded by explosions, heard in several places in the eastern Euphrates area in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, near the coalition base in Koniko gas field. However, it is not known yet whether these explosions were caused by a rocket attack on the base or another attack.
Yesterday, SOHR sources affirmed that the explosions that struck positions in the eastern and western Euphrates, at 5.30 am Damascus time, were caused by the exchange of fires between coalition forces and Iranian proxies.

Iranian proxies fired three rockets from Al-Mayadeen desert west of Euphrates towards Al-Omar oil field, “Largest coalition base” in Syrian territory in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, one shell fell at a helipad at the base, while two shells hit an open area, causing material damage only but no casualties.

Following Iranian bombardment, Coalition forces retaliated by firing two shells on Al-Mayadeen desert, no casualties have been reported.

On January 4, SOHR reported that unknown drones conducted raids on hideouts of Iranian loyal factions in the vicinity of Mazaraa neighbourhood, Mazar Ain Aly that is stationed on the outskirts of Al-Qouriyah city in Al-Esharah desert in east Deir Ezzor.

The attacks were escorted by International Coalition fighter jets flying over the region, but no casualties were reported.
