Renewed bombardment | Turkish forces shell positions in northern Al-Raqqah, after four days of tense calm

Al-Raqqah province: SOHR sources have reported that Turkish forces shelled with heavy artillery positions in Hushan village and on M4 highway in the western countryside of Ain Issa in northern Al-Raqqah. However, no casualties have been reported.

This bombardment interrupts the tense calm which have prevailed in Ain Issa for four days, and which was interrupted by exchange of bombardment between SDF and Turkish-backed factions.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of an SDF member affected by the injury he had in Turkish artillery fire a few days earlier, which targeted Fatisa village in Ain Issa countryside the capital of “Autonomous Administration” in northern Al-Raqqa province.

On January 2, SOHR activists reported that Turkish forces fired artillery shells on Al-Dibs and Nitula villages and other positions west to Ain Issa district, which is the “Autonomous Administration” capital in Al-Raqqa countryside.

While on December 30, Turkish forces and their factions bombed Fatasa village in the eastern countryside of Ain Issa, the “capital of the autonomous administration” north of Al-Raqqa. No casualties were reported.
