Iranian-Russian “cold war” | Russian forces attempt to woo residents and lure NDF members in eastern Al-Qamishli

Al-Hasakah province: In light of the Russian-Iranian conflict in Syria with each side being attempting to impose absolute influence on Syria, Russian forces continue combating the Iranians in regime-controlled areas in Al-Hasakah province by intensifying their efforts to woo the residents and lure members of National Defence Forces (NDF) to switch to work with the Russians.

In this context, reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that Russian forces toured this morning Hamo village in the eastern countryside of Al-Qamishli in Al-Hasakah province, which is controlled by regime forces and NDF, where they distributed medicine, flour and bread to the village’s residents.

It is worth noting that the men and children of that village had prevented US forces from passing through their village on several occasions in the past few weeks, as the village’s children blocked a US patrol, on November 22, and pelt it with stones.

While on October 24, young men from the village blocked a US convoy of five armoured vehicles during its tour near Hamo village, where the young men had pelt the US vehicles with stones and chanted anti slogans, before the US convoy left the region.

Similarly, on October 24, pro-regime civilians from Hamo village prevented US armoured vehicles from passing through their village to M4 highway, while the US convoy returned back to Khaznah town in the south-east of Al-Qamishli.
